A Corny Fad Movie To Cash In On The Roller Skating Craze Of The 1970s

That pretty well sums it up. Doesn't surprise me to see on Jim Bray's IMDb profile that he's only done ONE movie. What! No "Roller Boogie 2 - Bootin Up Again"?

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

At least it had heart unlike most of the schlock released today. And it's over 30 years old now so there's the time capsule value for the fashion, music, Venice Beach in those days and seeing Linda Blair when she was quite young.

There was no such thing as a "roller skating craze of the '70s." Roller skating was popular for decades until the 1980s until inline skates became popular, so there was nothing particularly 1970s about roller skating's popularity back then. What this movie did try to cash in on was the roller disco craze, which was a very short fad in the 1970s and ended when disco fell out of popularity by 1980.

Actually there was a HUGE Roller disco craze in the late 1970s and this dumb movie was created to exploit it. I turned 18 that year and remember it well. Nỳ It was a dumb fad.

I remember that too, and I remember this movie. I had it on VHS for a long time.
