Whatever happened to Jackie's fiance?

Last I saw he had the engagement ring, but I never heard about him again. Why did they not get married after he changed his mind about the wedding?

You mean the cop? I think he felt his job was too dangerous and he didn't want to put Jackie through constant worry.

She called off the engagement in the season 3 episode The Separation (1983) because he wanted her to quit her job and be a housewife. She didn't want to quit her job because her career was important to her.

Yes she was a fashion designer. Is fashion design not good enough for you to consider it a career?

When Deborah Van Valkenburgh left the show at the end of season 5 it was explained Jackie had gone to Italy to work as a fashion designer for an Italian fashion design company.
