How are they going to make a living? Spoilers.

It is obvious that Julian cannot go back to escort business so Michelle has to be the bread winner. Assuming there will be a divorce, is she entitled to half of Charles Strattons net worth? Or does she come from money, a heiress of some sort?

I find it ironic that Julian will be freed from jail and hustling, but be doomed to live as Michelle's kept man for eternity. On the other hand Julian is 27-28? so even without being disgraced publicly he was past his prime as gigolo.

Past his prime? He seemed to be doing a good job in what he was doing if you ask me lol. But I assume Michelle would get money from the divorce and both she and Julian would get 'regular' jobs at least she would.

Maybe not "past his prime" when quality of his work is considered but his clientele was not going to seek his services much longer anyway because he was simply getting too old.

Problem is that none of those high class ladies would touch him after all the scandal. He is certainly not too old! But Michelle would not like him doing what he does.

It's conceivable that Michelle got a divorce settlement and then took care of Julian while he went back to school to earn a degree of some kind.

I don't think Michelle can count on a hefty divorce settlement because she walks into the policeman's office at the end of the film and confesses to adultery with Julian. She broke her vows, on the record. The Senator's lawyers would have an open-and-shut case against her.

However, I don't think the Senator would have married her in the first place if she weren't from a moneyed family, much like John McCain marrying Cynthia McCain, an heiress to some fruit thing in Hawaii. (No, I'm not going to google it. There's only so much I'll do for you meddling kids...) :P

The Senator would have married her because she is gorgeous and having her for a wife would only enhance his political aspirations. (I would have voted for Stratton for president in 1980or '84 if I could have Lauren Hutton as First Lady.)

There's no open-and-shut case of divorce in California. She committed adultery. So what? California is famously a community property state. She'd probably end up with half his fortune. I am not sure about this, but was divorce in CA (as well as the rest of the country) no-fault at that time, 1979-80? If so, the adultery would be even less important. I just don't see her walking away with nothing especially if they had been married a while, 7, 10 years. And if she was married to him before he became senator, no way is she getting 0. She could have banged every player on the L.A. Raiders. She's still getting 50%.
