Filmed in Boise!

Great movie. If you have lived in the Boise area look for scenes in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, Garden City, Nampa, Lake Lowell ect. The area has sure changed alot in 29 years! We have watched BB many times and see different familiar scenes every time. I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about the shooting locations.

So after hearing about this movie all of my life I finally watched it. Overall very cheesy. But I have lived within a few miles of most of the filming locations and can easily identify most for you, firen-1. Couldn't tell where the opening shots were but once they get into Idaho the first shot is in Nampa. They are driving south on 12th. The old Nampa train depot is in the background. They are at the corner of 3rd and 12th. (the Nampa floor covering store is now a Chinese food buffet) The "Nampa City Hall" is now an open plaza with a fountain in the middle. When they set up the tent it was only a quarter of a mile from where I lived. Shady Acres is still on State Street/Hwy 44 just east of Linder in Eagle. Although it's been remodeled greatly. They have a wall with the Bronco Billy movie poster and picture of Clint Eastwood in Shady Acres on the wall in their cafe'. They did set the tent up across the street. There are is now a home and large outbuilding there. Cracked my up that Miss Lilly and hubby were going to Sun Valley for their Honeymoon, but were headed the opposite direction. Billy finds his next assistant at the Hungry Onion which is in Meridian off of N. Main Street. That area still looks the same. The bank that was robbed is further north on the same street. Still Farmers and Merchants but has a covering over the front door. Have not been able to figure out where the orphanage was. Though it looks to be north of the Eagle/Star/Middleton area. At one point they are driving west down State/Hwy 44 and if they would have shot out the passenger window instead of the driver's side you could have seen the house I grew up in. The "Meridian State Fair" was shot in the Meridian Meridian Speedway. Obviously the "Ranch Club" was in Garden City off of Chinden. It's still there complete with horse. I believe the scenes at Lake Lowell in Nampa were shot just outside of the Deer Flat Visitors center, west of the dam. They decide to rob the train somewhere between Boise and Mountain Home. I think the Criminally insane home was shot in the Fort Boise area. Though I'm not positive. Although it could be the state hospital in Nampa off of 11th and I-84 near Centennial and Ridgecrest Golf Courses. I think most of the traveling shots through pine trees and near a river were on Hwy 55 north towards Cascade. Also, I can't tell where the flag tent was placed. Though I am thinking North East Boise somewhere. Hope that answers most of your questions.

Thanks for the great info jensenba! We live in Meridian. I am going to write to the Statesman to see if there are others who remember where BB was filmed.

The flag tent was at the Fort Boise Park and skate park on E. Fort St. and E. Garrison. The final shot of the movie as the camera pans back gives a great view of the park and downtown Boise.

Just found out that the orphanage scene was filmed one mile south of Weiser on Highway 95. The building is now occupied by Head Start. Thanks to the city of Weiser for the info.

I know a scene in the movie was filmed at the Nampa town hall. My Grandpa was the city's plumbing inspector, and he had an ugly old green trailer. The movie director just had to have it for his show. So he rented it from my Grandpa, that was the trailer that Billy hauls around. I remember playing in it as a kid. It still had "Bronco Billy's Wild West Show" painted on the side. I asked my mom about the logo and she told me the story.

I had never remembered to check where this was filmed, but when I was a kid, some friends of mine at school were excited because their uncle was a featured extra in one of the scenes. Seeing as I grew up in American Falls, I figured it had really been filmed in Idaho, or at least somewhere close. It's cool when they actually film something where it's set. You don't see that alot...

My Uncle Goober was outside, watering his lawn, once, when a trailer with two of the horses in the movie drove past. He waved, but they didn't wave back.
