Why sepia?

For about 10 seconds, the film is in sepia. It just randomly starts, and quickly ends. Why was this done?

I think it's a key moment in the film. For a few seconds, the film practically transforms into a fading photograph. Notice that a few seconds, there's a sudden dream-like break in continuity. We see a close-up of Huppert's face, with an odd explicable look of worry on her face, and then suddenly, the entire dancehall becomes empty. It's no mistake that this "fading" happens at the "happiest" point in the film; it's all downhill from there.

This part really needs to be changed on the main page to "incorrectly regarded as a goof" for the above explanation.
