Linderman making Clifford fight Moody

I think Linderman did the right thing by making Clifford fight Moody himself. It taught him courage by standing up to a coward bully and not to have someone else fight his battles for him. It's different when it's four on one (Moody and his buddies)but imagine the pride Clifford felt when he's looking down at Moody holding his face crying "You broke my nose!" Also imagine the next school day when Moody shows up with a swollen nose and two black eyes and having to tell everyone who knocked the s hit out of him.

Yes plus it would have been kind of cowardly on HIS part making HIM the bully had he beaten the guy himself.

Now he does not even NEED the bodyguard if its JUST moody, he will only need the bodyguard if he is outnumbered by the gang.

I wonder how the future would have played out? Would Moody have sought revenge? Or would his gang turn on him and think he is a wuss after getting his nose broken?

reply

I can guarantee Moody would have retaliated against Clifford. Probably by waiting til Clifford has his back turned and hitting Clifford from behind like a true coward would do.

Clifford still has his "bodyguard" and Moody does not, his bodyguard got his arse kicked.

reply

Looks like Mike Moody's bodyguard needs a bodyguard of his own.

Agreed loved "tough " Mike getting body punched and wheezing . In the real world Adam Baldwin was a pretty big kid and the fight scene was school fights like I remember. Matt Dillon has range but plays unlikeable cads quite often.

Yes, this is definitely one of those "in this day in age" type of movies, where things would be much different. Now Moody and Mike would come to school the next day with guns. We've seen it too many times before.

"Jesus, does anyone?"

reply

Well, yes, it is good that Clifford stood up for himself. Also, the fact that he jumped in to save Linderman when Moody started attacking him, Linderman saw that Clifford could handle Moody himself.
But why would Moody have two black eyes? He just had his nose broken.

reply

A broken nose causes both eyes to turn black due to bruising around the eyes.
