Wouldn't it stand to reason that Kim and Alex would mention having seen the other kids at the building? Leading them to be questioned?

Good point.

Always found it hard to buy that Jude and Kelly had the audacity to be/remain friends with Kim afterwards, and Nick to be dating her!

Since Robin was found hours later, Kim maybe forgot in all the shock and it seems like one of the deleted scenes mentioned Alex as blocking out the day of the murder or something. If the memory only recently returned, it would explain the sudden decision to kill the others.
