This is The Amityville Horror in a hotel, nothing more. Yet for some reason it has the laughable rating of 8.4 and a classic like Jaws gets saddled with an 8, and 2001 the movie that changed EVERYTHING also rates lower on here. People who rated this movie a 10 are idiots. This is nowhere near the best Kubrick film, it's one of the worst.

shareWhile I would not say it is a 10, I would give it a high rating. It is probably one of the more suspenseful horror movies. Everyone has different tastes in movies; just because some gave it a 10 does not mean they are idiots.

This movie is very predictable and doesn't have much of an underlying message other than a what you see is what you get abusive husband tormented by demons of his own making (alcohol, poor anger control) and some of a supernatural bit to push him over the edge. There isn't anything we can learn from the film other than to run away.
How about the comment on American colonization and the genocide of the Indigenous cultures?
It ain't no picnic.
But, watching the doctor (Anne Jackson) extract information from Wendy in the apartment is a small slice of heaven.
And... we've found the millennial "hipster" on the board! LOL!
