It's a good movie a 6/10 at best

But I don't get what the hype was all about... I was partially disappointed when I finally watched it..
I was like "that's it?"

Said the troll...

reply

This isn't my favorite Kubrick movie but I'm just curious why you were disappointed.

reply

It's too damn long and Maybe I missed something but the ending felt open ended

reply

It’s 2 hours and 30 min. If that’s too long then you shouldn’t watch movies. You’re sorry excuse of a human being. Troll Scumbag

reply

Your reply is the definition of trolling

reply

You just said you cant watch movies 2 hours and 30 min so your opinion is invalid now.

reply

The fuck...!
When and where did I say that?

reply

TAKE A MIDOL,DUDE.

reply

Kubrick ruined the adaptation and shredded the original script, Shelly Duvall was nowhere near the character in the book instead of being a strong woman Kubrick turned her into a blubbering idiot...not to mention most of what happened in the movie never happened in the book:

The Twins
The Maze
The Axe Scene
The scene on the stairs Wendy originally knocked Jack out and later killed him
Dick Halloran didn't die in the book

reply

Interesting. I've never read the book or managed to finish watching the movie. I like the beginning, but too soon lose interest, and I agree with the OP: IMO, it's overrated and I'd give it a 6 or 6.5.

reply

It's not like the book because it isn't the book. It's Stanley Kubrick's movie.

reply

Agreed. 6.5/10
Not one of Kube's better ones. Some genius scenes but a bit of a dreary mess. The son's shining never amounts to anything and the film's focus fades and changes.

Church of Kube like all of his shit no matter what. Flaws are master detail crafting in disguise, etc.
