I'm not usually a fan of comedy movies, even though I adore stand-up, but this film had me in tears laughing. Richard Pryor is amazingly hilarious in every scene he's in, so much so that even his eyes have me laughing after a while. I was really surprised to see it had such a low rating!

I think the first half is terrific but it slides when the whole rodeo thing comes into play. Also Pryor is under utilized in the second half after being so strong in the first half.

I agree. One must remember that IMDB is but a small subset of the public. And, as with any Internet-based voting, it is largely skewed towards kids (the under 30 who live on the Net.) Stir Crazy came from the end of the era in which films allowed the viewer to have a developed mind. To think. Today's offerings spoon-feed everything to the viewer. A large number of those voting need the spoon-fed variety, as it is all they have ever known in their world.

Sad.

That is so well-put! I've noticed, especially with the polls, that the majority of "voters" are young people, and their ratings reflect this. Too bad, because Stir Crazy is hilarious!
