Question about the boy's mother at the Niagara Falls scene?

What kind of parent would you say she was? I thought she seemed like a neglectful parent.

reply

Neglectful and negligent.

reply

Especially when he was trying to get her attention while playing with the railing, all she said was "that's nice" while brushing him off.

reply

Hope she enjoyed her candy floss or whatever it was she was eating.

reply

Ordinary. Everyone turns their back on their kid sometime, and every parent gets sick of the endless demands of parenting and just wants to enjoy a tiny moment as a themselves, and not as a parent.

reply

A responsible parent can turn their back on their child when they know they're safe and not at risk of serious harm. Doing it when you're next to a 50m tall waterfall when you know your child has already been playing on the railings isn't ordinary.

reply

Someone who needed her child taken away from her, at least to put a scare into her so she takes better care of him.

reply

If you are,e.g., at the Niagara Falls, you are extremely careful with little children (especially if they already have played in a "dangerous zone").

Having said that, sometimes a little child just need a couple of seconds to give you a real scare.
