What would you hhave done different?

Between this and the Christmas episode, I would have:

Greg: Would be working in the music industry as a producer or maybe a road manager. In the series, he was always about music, never mentioned medical school, science, etc.
Marcia: I think fashion designer was good for her. Maybe advertising if I had to choose something else.
Peter: I would have made him a career man in the military
Jan: She would have been a free spirit. Single mother who does freelance art, designing displays, wedding themes, etc as her "main income" while selling paintings waiting for her "big day" at it.
Bobby: I like the race car driver for him.
Cindy: School teacher

Life is full of surprises.

This is shallow, but I wouldn't have Marcia marry a guy named Wally. I could see Jan marrying a nerdy Wally, not Marcia who should have married the former big man on campus named Duke.

reply

I don't see how Jan ended up with uptight Philip. I agree about Marcia - maybe married to a sports player or someone like that.

reply

I agree except for Bobby. He NEVER showed an interest in cars. It's very rare for someone to just become a race car driver out of school. It's incredibly expensive and is usually a family business.
I can see Bobby working a more standard job like a pool cleaner.
Same with Jan to an extent. I could see her doing the things you stated, but only as side gigs to supplement a more standard office job.
It always annoyed my that ALL the kids had dream jobs, most of some of which had nothing to do with their personalities.

reply

They did show Bobby dreaming about winning a race when he didn't have a trophy. And I think they showed him playing with cars.
Your idea with Jan is good, but with her hoping to one day really make it as an artist.

Bobby was entering the age when boys start becoming really interested in cars when the series ended.

Every American red blooded boy loves cars, but very few become race drivers. It's pretty exclusive to a more rural lifestyle where the toddlers have grease under their fingernails and the family spends every weekend at the track. By the time the boys are twelve, they can drop an engine.
Bobby would have needed to hit the lotto or become a pop star to afford the 6 figures (even in 1981 dollars) to get an oval track racing setup from scratch.
It would have been just as believable if he became an astronaut. He had a dream about flying saucers too.....and being a pro football player...Heck I would have actually believed it if Bobby ended up on a college football team. That was more in his wheelhouse from what we saw of him. And he could still become crippled if that's what the producers wanted loL
Just like with Greg. We've all known future doctors in school. They were book worms who collected butterflies for the most part. Or at least had really good discipline which Greg showed no sign of.

I see Bobby working at McDonald's.

I wouldn't have watched it. I loved the Brady Bunch when I was a kid but this was just stupid.
