Ever going to be released on DVD??

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, as I suspect it has, but I came on here trying to find out if there is a planned release date for the DVD, as my searching shows this has never been released in that format...does anyone know if or when this might happen?
I'm also curious about why the feet-dragging, I admittedly know very very little about the business end of releasing films, but it seems odd to me that this seemingly was never released on DVD. Anyone??

probably a licensing issue with the music. Every time there's a new format they have to relicense all the music. That's why you find a lot of old TV shows have crappy new soundtracks when they're released to home video.

Happy to report that the print and resolution are VERY good; a far cry better than the myriad of beat-up VHS versions or pirate DVDs. Kudos to Universal (who now owns the rights, the now-defunct Polygram Pictures logo still opens the film) for allowing the end credits to fade to black, allowing the Diana Ross/Lionel Ritchie title song play itself out (most network TV versions cut or fade out). Alas, no BluRay, but this is better than nothing. For Region 1 viewers the search is over.
