Bought the Bluray from WalMart for $9.99 on Sep 22

Hello there, I bought the Bluray from WalMart for $9.99 on Sep 22. I shopped around for it in mid Sept and checked the prices on Amazon, Target and Walmart. Oddly, it appeared to be out of print on Amazon (and now I think it is back but $30 something). And it was either around the same price or not available at Target. I am so glad I was able to find it for such a low price.

About the HD transfer, I think it is an excellent transfer in terms of both video and audio quality. They did clean up the film so you don't notice any artifacts. Details are very good including the scenes that take place inside the mine. I was very impressed with the cinematography of the film itself (which is something I hadn't noticed before on other copies). And you can hear every distinct sound.

My only criticism is that audio and video quality of deleted scenes are terrible. I am not even sure if deleted scenes were converted to HD format. I first watched the theatrical release and it was great. Then I watched the Extended Edition which includes those deleted scenese and ever time such a scene started, it was so bad it stood up like a sore thumb :( It is still fun to see the effects but I wish they had improved those scenes as well.

There is 25-30 min documentary about the Horror Genre history, which I enjoyed. You can also watch the deleted scenes with commentaries from the cast and crew which was also cool.

Lastly, I think this is a great horror film (no matter what anyone else says) because of its unique atmosphere (being under the mine, dark locations, miner costumes, etc.) which is not easy to do with horror movies or any type of movie for that matter. Yes, it has its flaws but most horror movies have bigger flaws.

Congrats on the bargain, I'm watching the 1080p version now it's really good except those deleted scenes really stick out.
