Opening scene
If that was Axel with the girl with the heart tattoo then what about Sarah. He had to have been with her at the time. So from what the film shows Axel was messing around with someone else. Anyone else notice that.

They could be barely acquainted and fooling around - which happens - or, based on the fact that Axel didn't want her to remove his mask, he could have been posing as someone else. Pretty hard to tell who it is in those mining suits, you know. Think of the ghost sheet scene in Halloween : ]
