Rewatched this last night.

So good. The gore is brilliant. I forgot just how well the uncut scenes were integrated, I remember when they were first added and released that the difference in picture quality was extremely notable and distracting.

In only two instances during this movie were the uncut scenes noticable, the first kill scene (for only 2-4 seconds) and a quick shot of another kill scene about 3/4rds of the way through (once more only for a few seconds). In both instances the screen has a slightly discolored pinky hue.

I hope the upcoming 4K release manages to improve those two instances further. So, so close to being a completely seamless remaster of the uncut version.

Great slasher.

I looked into this and the first releases sourced the uncut scenes from a weathered interpositive.

The most recent release tracked down the OCN (original camera negative) of the uncut version, hence how perfect it is. However the few instances I mention are seconds of footage which were not on the CN. Strange how the CN they found had the uncut version almost complete but still lacked a few seconds here and there.

Seems like they should be able to restore the cut footage so that it matches the other footage perfectly by this point in time.

They have! The new 4K release is pretty much 100% perfect. I didn't notice any picture difference and I knew which scenes to keep an eye on.

reply

Good. I'll have to watch it.
