Jerry Goldsmith's Score.

I bought the Soundtrack to Outland recently and I'd have to say that it's probably one of Jerry Goldsmith's best scores.
I've just learned that he passed away a few months back, which is a terrible loss because he was one of the best film composers in the business.I recommend buying this soundtrack as it's a tribute to the wonder of Jerry's composing skills.

I bought it via Amazon a few weeks ago. Superb score. Very Haunting. A bonus to have Capricorn One, too.

I've got the full soundtrack. (Listening to it now, as I write this!) The Capricorn 1/Outland mix is good (To get Capricorn 1 as well) But I'd recommend getting the full stand-alone score too. There's so much on it. It's perfectly moody and atmospheric. (I also think "Hot Water" is one fo the best action pieces ever written) I think it compliments his 'Alien' soundrack well. Both the film and the music feel like they cover different incidents in the same universe!

As said in the first post, it's probably one of Jerry's best scores. It's a damn shame he's not going to be making them anymore!

It is indeed an awesome score and one that presents a terrific display of percussion. As is usual with Mr. Goldsmith, the score perfectly compliments the action and dialogue on screen and makes a great listening experience on cd. He truly will be sorely missed. He was one of the very best that American cinema had to offer. R.I.P.

Yes, it is one of my Maestro Goldsmith scores, but the 10 tracks score is uncomplete, I really want that someone will release a complete version of this score including "the final battle" composed by Morton Stevens !!!

Definately one of his best scores along with Planet Of The Apes, Logan's Run, Capricorn One, Alien, Star trek - The Motion Picture, Runaway, and various others that he has composed and conducted.

In an interview with Starlog Magazine, he said(which was a real surprise)that he wasn't too thrilled with scoring Outland, because he felt that it was too much of a hardware picture.

Oh, well....
