Why was a 30 year old man playing a 20 year old?

Wasn't anyone shocked when 'the kid' was described as being '20 years old'.

Ha ha. I thought what a joke.

I don't know. Why was a 17 year old playing a 12 year old? (Young Duane)

reply

He looked pretty young to me, certainly could have passed for early 20's.

It's acting. The character doesn't have to be the same age as the actor.

reply

Haven't you ever seen Grease? Stockard Channing was over 30. It's very common for adults to play teenagers, especially these days if a movie has a lot of sexual activity with teens or younger. The laws only account for the age of the actor, not the character.

reply

I don't think anyone is really an adult until they reach 25. Probably should be the drinking age in the U.S.

reply

Does that mean you'd consider it pedophilia for an older person to date a 22 year old?

reply

I was more preoccupied with the fact that no one in this film seemed to have any acting experience whatsoever.

reply

Because he could.
