come on...this movie isn't scary

I was reading the review on the movie's page, and the author seemed to be completely disgusted by it. Apparently he wrote that in 2004, and I just saw this movie for the first time last night (I love these 80's sci-fi/horror flicks). And I have to say, that this movie is not scary in the least, and its effects are really corny. Nearly every scene where the people are beating each other up is so poorly done, its hilarious. The gore effects are equally poor, even for that time (watch John Carpenter's "The Thing" to see what I mean). I did like the death scenes with that arc-welding device though.

It's funny, I was watching this with my girlfriend, and she mentioned that the whole alien "sex" scene looked enjoyable. (I just laughed when I saw its clear-tube penis-thing). And she said the alien babies looked cute!

The movie is full of plot holes, but I appreciate its originality, and the cool title. The cinematography isn't half-bad either, at least in the first hour or so. The ending theme was also cool, in a creepy-dissonant-80's synth kinda way. I think it explores the primal fear of giving birth to something disfigured or monstrous. Other than that, it's a pretty sub-standard fare slasher flick.
