Did people actually use to keep potato chips under the sink? And WHY would you put them there?

Yeah, I have never understood why that was even written in the script lol, I don't think anyone does that. Should've been 'chips in the cupboard' or something.
As the trivia says, it was originally written as a comedy. I would guess the chips gag was there as a joke, but when the filmed the movie in a serious way a lot of stuff like that makes no sense. Or maybe it was a just a production snafu like the pantry couldn't be in shot due to angles of camera placement so they went with that, who knows!
