The best horror comedy ever.

Or maybe it's the only horror comedy because I can't think of any others. At first I was a little surprised that The Thing is fairly high on the Top 250. I still don't think it should be above Jurassic Park. But now I realize how unique The Thing is. It's so gruesome and yet so hilarious at the same time. The crazy transformations and forms the things take are horrific and humorously ridiculous. When Mac throws the dynamite and yells "Yeah, and *beep* you too!," or when the three guys are tied up next to Palmer when he's transforming and they are freaking out, or when the head spider tries to sneak past the guys and one of them goes "You gotta be *beep* kidding me..." Man all these moments crack me up so bad. Am I the only one who sees it as a horror/comedy?

The Thing 8.2
Jurassic Park 8.1

Just mentioning the Top 250 makes some people go on a rant about it geez... The only reason I mentioned it was because I think I realized why so many people love The Thing, or at least one reason. And by the way, those 999,750 other movies are eligible. They just don't have high enough votes and the number of votes needed to get on the list. I'm eligible to be President but I'd probably never get enough votes.

Wait back up, you thought I was "ranting?"

LOL.......all-righty then.

If a movie doesn't have enough high votes, then it is not eligible to be in the top 250, now is it.

Hey I can play your silly splitting hairs game if you want.

If you're going to create a thread, don't get so thin skinned when someone offers discussion on the topic.

OK OK I was just a little surprised that you completely sidestepped what my post was about. Not a big deal but I don't think you're using the word "eligible" right. Video games and TV shows are not eligible to be on the Movie Top 250. Every movie is eligible.

Fair enough, my answer is no.

Not a comedy... like, not at all. Even the comic relief feels heavy.

Totally agree. I just watched it a couple days ago with a friend and we laughed. A lot. And it's not like those horror movies that are so bad and predictable that you gotta laugh. It was genuinly funny. Yet gruesome, as you said.

I can think of a few other movies with this interesting horror/comedy combination. There's You're Next and... I was thinking of another one but it slipped from my mind just now haha.

Well it's a Carpenter B-movie, it is quite cheesy (in a good way).

This movie is full of unintentional comedy, its great.

The scene where Windows finds Bennings getting taken over; its obviously a dummy Bennings and looks hilarious.

When the Palmer Thing transforms and attacks Windows and picks him up by his head, lol. And lets not forget the defibrillator scene.

I wouldn't call it a horror-comedy but it does contain several attempts at humor. It's a B-movie that was meant to entertain teens.

I like the part when at the beginning when Nauls is like "bullshit buana, five minutes if enough to put a man over down here!" and someone goes "damn straight!" and I like the part when Palmer wants to fly the helicopter but he's too stoned and says "well thanks for thinkin' about it though".
