Razzie Nom for worst score?!?!

Can you believe it?

Yeah, damn shame stuff works out like that, even in this case.

--Knowing that poor box office, razzie Noms & wicked competition at the theaters back then, would be the reason no one would attempt to keep making good $H!t like this movie.

Man, this sound track is part of the reason I enjoy Dark Ambient music so much these days. Sad really.

At least we can all hang out there and bask in the Awesomeness that is the 1982, "The Thing."

Same here. Saw it at 8 years old or so in the 80s & to this day the soundtrack still haunts me. Props to Morricone & Carpenter for the score.

the Razzie people are losers whom no one takes seriously

Seriously? What a bunch of *beep* idiots.

Iconic score from one of the greatest film composers of all-time. Absurd "nomination".

I can believe it. Also, in 1981, Tangerine Dream's fantastic score of Michael Mann's classic Thief was nominated. The Razzies suck, especially back in the 80s. First Blood Part 2 was the worst film of 1985 in their opinion, were they serious?

reply

I came to the board just to comment on how perfect and eerie the score was (just re-watched it for, I don't know? The 50th time?)

It utterly baffles my mind that anyone would't/couldn't see how perfectly it fits with the atmosphere and tension of the film. Unbelievable...

well at least these days Oscars are given for ambient scores. Guess the idiots behind the Razzies back then couldn't appreciate this stuff.

This will be the only comment or reply you'll get. Like I give a sh!t about YOUR interwebz opinion.

It's funny how Morricone got nominated for Razzie twice in 1983 (The Thing and Butterfly) and a film score composed using parts of his The Thing score won an Oscar and from Butterfly he got a Golden Globe nomination.
