The poster looks dumb beyond belief

Looks like a regular alien in a spacesuit with a blinding white light for attackers or inquisitive people, and certainly NOT a shapeshifting creature!

Maybe an homage to the original movie based on this remake, when it was basically a man in a monster costume?

DELETED OUT OF SHAME?

I'm surprised ppl on here are as lame as redditors. There's no reason to delete yourself off a post like this.

even john carpenter hated it because he thought it made the movie look like a shitty "guy in a rubber suit" b-movie. the original poster looks way better but it was considered too violent.

It confused me as a kid but it’s a great poster. It’s obviously a guy in a heavy winter suit, but the face is telling that it’s not a normal human in that suit. The original poster Carpenter wanted had some intestines on it I think, but the studio thought it was too graphic and requested the poster we have today.

Damn, I guess there truly is no accounting for taste. I'd say this is one of the best and most iconic film posters of all time.

Thats cuckoo talk. Its an amazing poster.

Who cares it's an awesome movie

While the symbolism is obvious, it is a bland poster. I much prefer the original UK poster. Much more atmospheric.

This one? I think that's more true to what you see in the movie. I like that one too. You can really sense the isolation of the characters in that one.

I recently switched it for the one the OP didn't like on my wall, though. Even though you don't actually see anything like that happen in the movie, it does get across the that some of the human characters might not be what they seem. The UK version will come back some time. I switch out the posters after a while.

I admit I somewhat agree with the TC. I understand the Studio not wanting something graphic on the poster but I don't really like the image they got. Maybe they should have gone with an image of the dog that the Thing imitates at the beginning but maybe input an image of one of the characters with a horrified look on their face in the background. Sure it sounds silly but it might still convey what the film is about more than what just looks like a man with his face faded out.
