Cochrane's weirdly missed opportunity

When Cochrane ambushed Murphy by the incomplete skyscraper, why didn't he just finish off Murphy then and there? Instead, Cochrane severly injures Murphy and attacks the helicopter, blowing off the side camera and disabling the mechanisms of the cannon. He could have just blown Murphy's head off, given just a few more seconds - which he clearly had. If the jets were not afraid to take out Murphy along with the expensive blue helicopter, then neither should've Cochrane.

it was a total fantasy. cochrane should have finished BT off within seconds with those cannons. couple of shots into BT's fantail or rotors and that is it....

Yeah, the movie 'Firefox' had a similar "missed opportunity" in the ending. (Perhaps several)

Most movies aren't about realism. They're about writing characters in a way you want them seen and then getting those characters to a desired ending. If movies had to be realistic they would be much harder to write and most would likely be far less entertaining.

Michael Bay didn't ruin my childhood. My childhood happened more than twenty-five years ago.
