Staten Island

The scenes shot in S.I were terrific. Remember the shot of the backyard? Classic!

As a native Staten Islander, I loved Easy Money and watch it whenever it is on TV and get a kick out of seeing the filming locations on Staten Island. When I first saw it 22 years ago in the theater, I thought it was a little exagerated. But, if you are able to see Staten Island now, you would see that Rodney was right on the money!

How about the Victory Diner and Alphanso's Bakery? Cool to see the old SI again. But the best had to be the Scara Mix cement truck. I wonder how that got in there....lol

Was the movie really filmed on Hylan Blvd. in Staten Island? Is Alphanso's Bakery located right on Amboy Road? I know that the house was supposed to be in New Dorp,Staten Island will always be The Last Frontier of New York City! Great Kills is such a beautiful area!

The house was in Dongan Hills (below Hylan Boulevard) near the old East Shore Little League field. I lived in the area, briefly, right before it was filmed. Was so *issed that I wasn't there to meet The Rod Man. Alphonso's is on Victory Blvd.

Sorry, but the Capuletti's house was not in Dongan Hills. It was located at 57 McVeigh Avenue, between Evans Street and Kelly Boulevard in New Springville.

I know this because my brother bought a new house on that block in the Spring of 1983, after the movie was filmed, but before it was released. The realtor who eventually sold him the house could not show him houses on that block when he first started looking because the production company was still filming.

Here's how the Capuletti residence looked in July 2008, 25 years after the release of "Easy Money": http://www.flickr.com/photos/25661131@N03/2695096168/

Actually, the Capuletti's house was located across the street, at 58 McVeigh Avenue. I know this because a friend of a friend bought the house from the original owner, who showed him pictures taken with Rodney Dangerfield and other members of the cast.

It's the house with the "barn doors" on the garage:

I wish there were more scenes in S.I..

The racetrack scene was filmed at Dover Downs in Dover, Delaware. There were several New York area tracks that could have been used instead. I am partial to Meadowlands Racetrack and Monmouth Park.
