I want to be clear about the missing Boxing scene.

I know it's NOT on the DVD. What formats is it on? Has anyone seen the VHS, LASERDISC or VIDEO DISCS to verify if it's on any of them?

Yeah, you know the video does have that scene. Why it's been deleted elsewhere, I don't know. Drug references ok, but violence? NOOOOOO!

I know that they did show it on TV that way.
I had a tape made of off cinemax with that scene on it.
They also have a promo shot for it. Its on the back of the promo LP soundtrack.
Its like the octopuss scene from goonies sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't.

I remember this scene from the 1st time I saw the film. It was not included on VHS, and I was surprised that it was not included on the DVD, even as a deleted scene.

Too bad too, as I recall Kimberly McArthur gets to show off her very large ...um... "acting abilities" one more time during that scene as well.

It is strange but If I'm not mistaken, the boxing ring dream sequence was only aired on the cable TV version (& later altered for Broadcast TV) of this classic. Seen it on HBO back in the early days & it included Ms. McArthur topless. The scene goes on a bit of a tangent and does disturb the pace of the film so I can see why they would cut it out of the theatrical version.

BTW, Kimberley's first bare chest scene (the one of her sunbathing on the neighbor's lawn) was also re-shot with her wearing a bikini top in the broadcast TV version as I recall.

The really odd thing is there is a photo from this scene on the DVD insert.

I have a taped version from HBO and I wish it was in better condition because I love this scene. It just shows how much pressure he was under to "do the right thing" for his family. With all that was going on around him he finally gets up and says, "I gotta get outa here" "I gotta get outa here" - classic Rodney.

Classic Rodney indeed. RIP

I don't know
My brothers and I grew up on this movie, I don't know where the tape came from but it's worn now, and now we have to deal with the DVD. All I know is every time we start singing Oh say can you see, what we here is All we need is one pin Rodney. I think the scene is lost forever.

I have the DVD and while the scene is missing the included trailer shows a little bit of it! It (the trailer) also shows a shot of the sun bathing lady with a bikini top.
