I can't even think if anybody that would do a good job. Besides it would be urbanized and the setting would be changed to the Bronx with a hiphop soundtrack. No thanks.

hi guys if the outsiders was remade for the teens and young adults of the 21st century you would have to make the film or even a series based upon the book a lot more gritty and honest for these kids/young adults to connect to it because I asked a couple of them do they belive that this could happen and they told me no. I remember I was 15 and in year 9 when I read the outsiders and the book was memorable to read so I decided to read the other books that S.E Hinton had created and loved them. My class was looking forward to seeing the movie this was in 1995 so we didn't have the complete novel of the film and yes there were huge gaping holes that we all wanted to see but we were left so disappointed that the film just didn't have the heart that the novel did. What made more of an impression upon all of us was how many young actors we had grown up watching as young children of the 80s and early 90s we hardly recognised them in their fledging years as actors. Tom cruise shocked us all with how different he looked we had only know him as the good looking top gun guy maverick or even the others we hardly recognised them. I heard once in an interview with rob Lowe got asked if he could redo one movie which one would he redo and he said The Outsiders so were not the only ones thinking this idea it Rob himself that would love to see an updated version of the outsiders for a new generation of youth to connect to.

So if I could pick an updated cast this is who I would choose

Darry Curtis either Stephan Dorff who has played so many amazing roles in films plus he has played a greaser in Deuces Wild so he knows how to play a urbanized young adult/teen plus he has played beside matt Dillon in this movie so he has already got a connection to the outsiders actor. Or the other guy would be Paul Wesley big time with his connection in vampire diaries he has enough authority to lead a group of younger boys plus these two have so much charisma they can pull female viewers into watching them. And don't forget that Patrick Swayze who played Darry in the movie was well into his 30s when he played a 20 year old young adult so picking them has nothing to do with age it had to do with if these boys understood the roles they were playing matt Dillon didn't have blonde hair like Dallas but he still got the role as the bad ass Dallas Winston because he understood Dallas personality and his motivations as a hood.

Pony boy Curtis I only have one amazing young man on my radar and that is Milo Ventimiglia who has played in two shows first Gilmore girls were he plays a troubled bad boy who has lost his way and the other show is American dreams were he played the all out greaser boy who tends to break all the boundaries and pushes the limits. And gets the all American good girl in meg to loosen up slightly but he has the looks to pull of pony boy and the personality because he doesn't come across as all out threatening or menacing like Dallas does in the book.

Soda pop Curtis I discover this guy through pin interest and I have never heard of the guy before but he's name is Andrew walker but he has the great looks to pull of a soda pop Curtis this young actor is still acting he has done movies like fast track no limits and he career started in 1994 so he has same gravitas when it comes to acting.

Steve Randle the cocky smartass greaser needs someone that could pull it off with enough sarcasm mixed with charisma and a personality that could take Steve Randle to a whole new level as a greaser Tom cruise was a new face at this time when he played Steve nobody knew who he was. The person that caught my eye for him was Daniel Lissing I'm surprised to he has played in shows like Home and Away which is hugely followed in Australia and in Crownies so he no small name on the screen he would be perfect for Steve.

If Stephan Dorff couldn't play Darry he could seriously pull of playing Dallas Winston and he could seriously pull of the character considering what I saw of him in Blade as Deacon Frost perfect for dally and he bad boy tendencies because this guy does not hold back with his acting.

Two Bit Adam Levine would be perfect for Two Bit he has the good looks to pull of a tough guy but also he has been in some comedy movies/TV shows so he does have a sense of humour plus he got great charisma and he not to clean cut he slightly sharp and rough around the edges to pull of an up to date greaser.

and last Johnny my pick would be a new comer who has stared in the remake of It and he was just amazing as Eddie in terms of understanding the character plus he still very young and would be perfect as a young Johnny cade with his big brown innocent eyes and his dark hair his name is Jack Dylan Grazer he would be brilliant as this character and he would be doing ralph macchio proud.

The story is "one gang is fighting another , and not all of them are on board with keeping it that way".
That movie gets remade all the time. Starting with "Romeo and Juliet" all the way up to....(insert tribe film here ) , "The 100?"

I always wished they had remade it in the 90's and cast Leonardo DiCaprio as Sodapop. That would have been perfect casting in my book - sadly, he's too old now.

Any compassionate young actor who's a humanitarian and wants to use their fame and money to end homelessness in America within 10 years... or 20 years... or 30 years.
