What TCS Did Right
What The Cosby Show did right was they didn't portray whites as fools and stereotypes like The Jeffersons. This is why the show was popular.

My favorite part of the show is probably the amazing guest actors they have on to play secondary characters. Most of those guys are way funnier than the cosby characters (regardless of what race they were). But if they were portrayed as morons, they wouldn't have been. I.e. I love the handyman who never gives cliff a straight answer about the cost for fixing damage to his house, that was hilarious.
