like shakesphere or something? it's catchy but it doesn't make sense exactly.

I believe the title was inspired by the movie Murder, She Said (1961), which was based on Agatha Christie's 1957 novel 4.50 from Paddington. The film features Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple. The original pitch for Murder, She Wrote (according to Angela Lansbury) referred to Jessica Fletcher as a combination of Christie and her character Miss Marple.

I agree with Doctor Thirteen. In turn the 1961 film may have taken inspiration for it's title from a Fred McMurray movie 16 years earlier; 'Murder, He Says' (1945).
