Stay away from europa, we are idiot, curious species who have crazy people running our world, and they would ruin it by going to europa for some reason

Maybe people and society changes after the event in this film but I doubt this

I have to agree with your assessment.

In Clarke's follow up book 2061: Odyssey Three , a ship crash lands on Europa.

I read it in my 20's and enjoyed it. Don't think it would make a great movie though.

I think the song by T Bone Burnett -- "Humans From Earth" -- sums up the situation perfectly.
