Lasting Impact on the ritual?

Anyone have a bachelor party that looked like this movie?

I just wrote a book about bachelor parties called BACHELOR PARTY CONFIDENTIAL and, I'm telling you, everyone seems to compare their last hurrahs to Bachelor Party. Even if they're Mormon or Born Again or sober.

I'm curious: is that your experience? Have you been to bachelor party that seemed to be chasing the Tom Hanks/Bachelor Party dream?

FYI: You can check out the book at http://www.bachelorparties.org

I have not, but I have not yet been to a bachelor party as of this writing. I have always felt that people would pattern or hope their bachelor parties would be a lot like this movie. Then again, I wonder what people thought of the "ritual" as you put it, before this movie came out in 1984? Some people I have known that have had bachelor parties have done it on a larger scale, i.e. having the party in another city then their own, sometimes a very far off city or even another country on the other side of the planet. Often times if it's another city, Las Vegas is the default choice. These are all more expensive ways of having bachelor parties, and probably not all your friends could make such a trip.

Tom Hanks and his crew had their party on the cheap in comparison, they simply rented out a hotel suite in the city they lived in...but they seemed to have more crazy fun and adventures then they really should ever be having. That's the aspiration of all bachelor parties I guess.

I went to one where the guys all put their names on a piece of paper into a hat, then whoever was picked got a bj from a stripper/hooker.

I remember helping organize a bachelor party for a buddy in the '90s. The best man and I kept referencing the movie "Bachelor Party" while we were planning the event. What happened? I am not saying. Whatever happens at a bachelor party STAYS at a bachelor party.
