Biltmore

I recently visited LA and stayed at the Biltmore (and I had forgotten that this is the hotel where many scenes were filmed). I walked in the old lobby and had this wierd sense of deja vu that I had been there before. And then when I got to the elevator landing and looked down, it hit me...Bachelor Party. Good times.

And my sister and brother-in-law have been to Biltmore House, and loved it. But I don't think it would occur to them to put down a historic hotel 3,000 miles away that shares the name.

The Biltmore is still charming--I was there about four years ago. The Academy Awards were held there several times in the 1930s, when they were still presented in a banquet setting, and there are a number of photographs from those ceremonies on the walls. And it was the headquarters hotel for the 1960 Democratic National Convention--I rather doubt John F. Kennedy would have been willing to stay in a "crap" hotel.
