In fact, this movie has absolutely not stood the test of time, which I'm hoping was your sarcastic point.
I loved this movie as a youngin', but it is utterly stupid as I watch it tonite.
Still some classic scenes and lines, but generally, pretty damn stupid, and Hanks hammed it up so over-the-top, particularly the kitchen cooking scene, that I'm surprised the Academy Award voters were able to overlook it in voting him Best Actor not once, but twice...
