Sci-Fi Movie playing in theater

I figure the fight scene and the space ships are from two different sci-fi movies, but I am interested in the one they got the space ship scenes from. I know I saw that movie in the 80's, but can't remember it. I even remember the cowboy astronaut from NASA and a few of the other aliens piloting other ships like the white ones with the glowing ship. Any help would be great appreciated!

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I can't live with that.

Yep, it'd definitely Battle Beyond The Stars from 1981, featuring Richard Thomas of Little House on The Prarie fame. One of I'm sure many sci-fi flops trying to cash in on Star Wars' success at the time.

OMG, I never knew that was an actual movie...I thought it was just made up for this movie.

In the case of Batchelor Party, I believe that they used some of the space scene's from the afformentioned movie, but the actual fight scene (between the two men) was filmed for just for Batchelor Party. However, I could be wrong, but it's not definately not Battle Beyond The Stars.

You are 100% correct. The spaceship scenes, as already mentioned, are from the great cheese Sci-Fi BBTS. But the fight scene was made for Bachelor's Party.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. All those moments, will be lost in time, like tears, in rain... Time to die
