Can anyone tell me what it stands for?
I think the actual meaning might be CANNIBALISTIC HUMANOID UNDERGROUND DWELLERS. There was a more scientific line in the movie, but I think that was made up just for the film because "CHUD" is supposed to be some kind of boogeyman story. An urban legend about homeless people in the abandoned sewers and subways of New York City that eat people.

In Spanish, I believe it means "Caníbales Humanoides Ululantes Demoníacos"... (Demonic and Screaming Cannibalistic Humanoids).... well, you see. Stupid translation.
