I dont know what kind of car it is but wonder who is the actor playing the young boy. He looks so familiar. Anyone know?
shareWhen I was a kid, I was amazed by this "yellow sports car" too. A friend was a huge car buff at the time, and he blasted the car saying it was a "kit car". I never heard of the concept until I saw this movie. Then he told me a guy in his neighborhood actually had one if I wanted to go see it. When he cranked it up, my first thought was "turn it off." At the time I had a chance to sit in a new Testarossa so I knew what a powerful engine should sound like, and my friend's father had a new corvette and an older stingray too(so I could see why he wasn't impressed with the car either).
Man was I heartbroken to find out that the engines were pretty lame for the kit. I think I was equally heartbroken when I found out the car from the tv show "Hardcastle and McCormick" was a kit car as well. I always wanted to own one.
Let me stop rambling though. Here's an even better site to find information and pictures:

The car from "Hardcastle and McCormick" was a VW chassis desing using a Porsche 914 engine. It was a modified Manta Montage and was decently fast.
shareThe Yellow car was in fact a Sterling Nova kit car. Usually based on a VW frame. I know because I am trying to convince a guy from my home town to let me use his bright yellow one for my wedding ;) seriously who wants a limo?
