...beating off Kreese in part 2 for losing the final match?

No, but that's what you get for learning from a ex vet psychopath.

But Kreese should have known that Johnny's parents would have taken him for everything he's got.

Johnny ran right into Daniel's foot, while he was in an obvious kicking position.

it makes me wonder how Mike Barns avoided a similar fate after failing Kreese and Silver in KK3. Seems like they would REALLY have been mad.

yes and unlike the previous year I beat they made sure to beat him up when Mayagi was not around to come to his rescue because even though Barns was ten times worse a person than Johnny being the good guy Mayagi would have defended him.

Tbh, I reckon it would have gone something like this:
Daniel: 'mr Miyagi, Kreese and Silver are hitting Barnes with baseball bats'!
Miyagi: ' Keep walking Daniel-San. None of our business'.

1. if the Kobra Kai had Daniel murdered Mayagi would kill them. They would have to arm themselves with GUNS since he can beat them up so easily.

2. Barns would need a gun too. Daniel had evolved beyond him at the end and he cannot beat up Daniel anymore either.

3. Daniel being killed would break Mayagi and he would not be the jolly old man of the next movie anymore but a broken husk.
