Was that kick even 'allowed'?!

I understand of course that this is a karate tournament, but a kick like Daniel's could surely kill an opponent?!!

Or very least shatter his jaw or teeth. In boxing, they wear mouthguards but not in karate?

Of course it wasn't.

Daniel didn't win the tournament. He also hit Johnny on the back of the head, which isn't allowed either.

Old school karate tournaments were much more brutal people would leave the ring with broken ribs broken hands, knocked out teeth and concussions
