Daniel Mum has she two jobs?

I am sure at the start of the film Daniel says my mum has come out here to work on computers and filling. But then we see his mum working in a restaurant. So does it mean she has two jobs as seems to get back from home pretty late. Also when Daniel is going home after seeing his mum which seems early. How is it that both come back at the same time about 10.00 as its dark. So where was Daniel if he has no friends and does not know there area???

The computer job fell through, hence the job at the restaurant.

We see Daniel and his mother having lunch in a restaurant. I don't recall anyone saying she worked there.

If she did have a job it would explain why she was absent for most of the film. I mean Miagi was using Daniel as slave labour building his unzoned Japanese Imperial Garden theme-park and she never picked up on the fact that her son was getting daily beatings at school.

Have you even seen this movie?
Of course she picked up on it. He even says that's why he needs to learn Karate.

The greatest trick the Devil played was convincing people he didn't exist.....

Lucille's computer job fell through. This is alluded to during her lunch with Daniel at the restaurant. She tried her best to sound positive and make a waitress job sound better than something in computer programming. Not being able to afford karate lessons is a clear indicator that she isn't working two jobs and pay at the restaurant is going to be lousy.

As for it being dark, in California it gets dark around 5pm during the month of October so it may not have been that late.

That computer job was a sham. She must have owed money to a landlord back in Jersey and needed to amscray lickity-split. Look at how little they had in that car. My gf took more luggage with her on our 3 week holiday to Australia for crying out loud.

People in those days didn't feel the need for a great waldrobe, in the 80s people had probably 10-15 outfits and 3-4 suits and 15 pair of underware. I had that in one drawer, plus 100 days of clothing my closet is rediculous lol.

reply

Maybe. With all the damages that her son causes wherever he goes (three wrecked cars, the mess at the club, etc.), no wonder she needs two jobs to pay for all those.
