Newsnight Gold: Lean's Passage to India
========================================
Mark Tully speaks to David Lean and his cast during the production of 'A Passage to India' in 1984.

This year, 2008, is Sir David Lean's centenary year. To commemorate the great director - born 25 March 1908 - the British Film Institute is running a David Lean season. Meanwhile, the BBC's Newsnight programme has re-issued Mark Tully's 1984 report from the set of Lean's film 'A Passage to India'. You can watch this 11 minute film online at the BBC website.

For the interest of all fans of the movie, I have included two new pages on my 'A Passage to India' location website:

Page one has a transcript and some screen-shots of the documentary.

Page two has more screen-shots from the documentary, with an emphasis on the locations used in the film.

I was going to post to your earlier post but I see you now posted some of the info from the BBC website about the locations of the "fake" caves near Ramanagaram.

Having been on my one and only trip to India in 1983, I had wondered which caves they were myself. I had seen few of the famous caves site during my trip and so didn't think it could be any of them. I saw Elephanta, Ajanta and Ellora cave sites as well as Mahabalipuram.

I have a website that documents the location of both sets of caves with many photos, plus much more information about the 'Passage To India' film - you can see it here:
