Original ending
A Judy Davis interview in a 90s issue of Film Comment contains a brief description of the originally planned ending. From memory: the last (?) shot was to be the still surface of a pool of water, reflecting Godbole dancing on the Wheel of Life. Guinness practiced his dancing hard, then discovered he was only to be shown from the back. Guinness and Lean fell out and a new ending shot.
