I'm a Christian. I admire him for devoting so much time to sharing his faith. I've heard him speak at a Fireproof conference and he is great. I've had the pleasure of meeting him and his family including Candace and her family. They are all very kind. He homeschools his kids or his wife does. She's sweet. Him and his wife also devote time to a great camp called Camp Firefly http://www.campfirefly.com/ for families who have who are sick. It's a great camp and the families involved appreciate it. I have a friend who took part in that. It's an amazing camp which supports all the needs of parents tending to sick kids plus the siblings. Siblings of sick kids are often forgotten and go through a lot of stress. I think it is great the camp recognizes it.

People put down Kirk for pushing his faith on people but that is not what he is doing. He is sharing his faith the same way anyone does with their faith being Muslim, Jewish or Mormon or even an Athiest. If you don't support it then move on. I have friends of many different faiths and a few are Athiest.

No one can make you believe in something you don't. Your faith is between you and your God or if you don't believe in God then it is between you and nothing.

I don't get the hate. How can someone hate someone they don't know or never even met? How can you fairly judge someone based on what you see on tv or in the news?

People seem to forget that those who hate and say horrible things about him are also hurting his family. I'm friends with one of his sisters and I've heard the pain in her voice when she speaks about things she sees online. People may forget but celebrities, their friends and families do visits these boards here. So do their kids.

I have to say Kirk has alot of respect from me and he is supported.
I also agree with you Amy. Well said

In the entertainment business, especially when there is an interview, what those NOT THERE don't know IS WHAT WAS REALLY SAID, how it was said, what was taken out of contexts, what was omitted and what was totally turned around to seem like something else. The media drums up drama to get more sales / view etc...

I know Kirk and he is really nice, extremely funny, strong in his beliefs, and a wonderful father and husband. He is not a hater and tyrant like the tabloid make him out to be.
I have seen so many be interviewed, then see it come out on tv and think... thats not what happened or was said. And if it was said they have been misplaced, key things taken out and even things moved around.

Kirk Cameron is a strong man to be able to deal with the things he has to deal with 90% of the time that someone interviews him. I dont know how he does it but his family has my support (which isnt much :P ) and even Jeremy Miller is here for his brother Mike ;)
(I asked Jeremy if it was ok to say so)

I do, but I'm more of a fan of his sister. Sometimes Kirk can come across as a bit strong, which I think makes people defensive. His sister, by contrast, seems just a bit more unassuming. But as far as being active Christians, I think that's refreshing, actually. Good for them!

There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly west

Hmmm, not many people. He comes off as a big douche. My favorite character on Growing Pains was Julie, and he made a fool out of himself on and off the show. He comes across as far too holier than thou, and then there are all the quotes where he says a wife is supposed to obey her husband and all will be well. 

reply

No sane people.

I don't support anyone who gets people fired.
That was then. Now, unsure if he still gets people fired because he disagrees with their choices. Who was/is he to mess with someone's money/livelihood? He may talk about God, but he ain't God.
I don't personally know him, of course. He may be a good man who gets bad press.

Kirk Cameron is a religious extremist whose views ruined the show. It is no wonder that no network will touch him.

reply

No, he shares how to be free in Christ.

I belong to Jesus: my Lord, Savior, my eternity, my everything. I love you, Jesus!
