Wasn't this supposed to be a popular show in 2007 on N@N?

I remember that Nick at Nite was showing this show and adverstising it back in 2007 and then they took it off really quickly. Does anyone know why they took it away?

Yeah, I remember that. Go figure. That was too bad. I recall they did the same exact same thing to "Silver Spoons" a few years before that. They made a point to say that they were going to air it...showed a couple of eps and then took it off for good. Makes a lot of sense!

It's simply hard to believe that a show as good as GP is not anywhere out there in syndication and on DVD other than the first season.

That's the way Nick@Nite is.
They play a few shows all the time (have marathons all the time), however most shows they decide to put on there doesn't last long.
In my opinion, Nick@Nite would be better if they actually played shows like Growing Pains.

Nick at Nite is about family sitcoms so Seinfeld and Saved by the bell really don't fit in. Boy meets world could have a slight possibility though. But then again they used to have Cheers on it so you never know.

All about carry-over. The Roseannes and Cosbys and Fresh Princes and Full Houses still have an appeal today, so they last. Roseanne has the trailer trash/blue collar thing; Prince has Smith who is a huge modern-day movie star; Full House...well, I can't really explain that one, except that it's a "safe" show; and Cosby has an icon and rambunctious kids as a lure.

Pains, Family Ties, Belvedere, Hogan Family, all bombed out in syndication because they're too soft, too sweet (and slightly outdated). Today's repeat crowds who discover shows now want mouthy kids, slovenly parents or hipster rappers for entertainment. Hence, why the other shows are played 24/7. And how Sanford & Son and All in the Family still air a lot; they're edgy. "Nice" shows don't last. The swift axe to Growing Pains reminds me of Wings. It was on about two weeks and then BOOM! Though it did resurface at around 3am and lasted about a year or so. Even Cheers has suffered, now only airing at 5am on Hallmark Channel.

The Roseanne thing is idiotic: it airs for FIVE(!!) consecutive hours between TVLand and Nick. Get the *&^&% outta here. Nick used to be associated with "classics", but ratings rule, so it's Everybody Hates Chris, Lopez, Malcolm, and soon Friends.

Roseanne is a classic though and one of the most rewatchable shows out there. Plus it is one of the more realistic sitcomes out there. At least it gets played. And why I am bothering replying to this old post is beyond me

And FRIENDS is a future classic. I don't love it... but it is one of the last of it's kind.

They need to stop airing George Lopez though. Over it. Same with The Nannny 0_0
