Mr Belvedere and The Golden Girls

I've seen every episode of Mr. Belvedere and The Golden Girls multiple times and I found it very interesting that they used many of the same actors for their guest spots. Never have I seen such an overlap of talent. Were they filmed in the same lot? Were the actors agents affiliated with both shows because the number of mutual actors is EXTREMELY high.

The series were not owned by the same company or producers and did not have any affiliation with one another. They were also not taped at the same studio. The actors’ booking representatives didn’t have any special contract or agreement with either show since none of these people ever had recurring roles. Usually the way it works is that the casting agent has a list of actors’ names that has experience playing a specific type of role or character with specific experience in taped half-hour comedy programming. Often they are cast right before the episode goes into production. That is why the same actors seem to overlap on different shows playing similar roles. These jobs are for the entire week that the episode is in production (it is actually a 4-day schedule) even if it’s a very small walk-on role with very little lines. I hope this is of some help to you. What I always found interesting though is that each series was mentioned in the other. Mr. Belvedere was referenced twice on the GG's; once by the Rose character and another time by Dorothy. And in the ep "The Escort," the elderly lady that Kevin takes out makes a comment that it beats staying home waiting for the Golden Girls to come on.

Yes! Very interesting stuff. I've always wondered how things like that work. Thanks :)
