Why Didn't Wesley ever learn his lesson from pranks at school?

Okay I can understand why Wesley would play a lot of pranks on mostly Heather and Mr. Belvedere. However, he also did it at school almost every day and every time he would get caught and get detention. I mean obviously the detentions that he kept getting wasn't working to correct his behavior. I'd think that eventually he would get tired of getting detentions almost every day unless that was supposed to be some kind of running joke.

Anyone else understand this? Thanks.

It's mostly a running joke, but that's like asking why didn't George get sick of talking sports? It's in Wesley's nature to break the rules, it's why the character was funny. We gradually find out Mr. Belvedere was the same kind of kid Wesley was, which is why he is the only one who can go up against him. If you've ever seen Leave It To Beaver, Mr. Belvedere is kind of like if the show had been called Leave It To Eddie Haskell.
