80's American Sitcom was just the greatest thing ever!!!!

My lord, I freaking love these shows!!!! People say that Americans don't have any culture, well it's in our sitcoms.. The sitcoms was our culture, from the theme music, to the family values, This was the greatest thing ever!!!!
Do we have anything like that anymore??? Not only were the shows great and had a message but the jokes were so funny and plenty.. Nowadays sitcoms will have like one joke and they extend that to a full episode....

These are the current comedy shows that I think are great:
Louie
It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia ( Not sure what happened to season 6)
The League???
Parks and Recreation

Anymore recommendation, please add to your list, thanks....

I agree with you totally that TV shows are a reflection of our culture in America. But, that's part of the reason why I cringe at the current state of our TV programing. I mean, everything from style, to looks, to attitude, it all leaves something to be desired, compared to the older ones...

I like MB because it has a British guy in it, and there is something decidedly classy and old-fashioned about Brits in general, as evidenced by their voices, TV programs, etc. But, Americans had that too, in the so-called golden-age of TV and movies. But, unfortunately for us, it has faded over time and was almost non-existent in the US by the 1990s...

I do like many of the sitcoms from the 1980s though.

But, as for our current state of TV and the shows you list as your new favs, they have their audience, sure. But, one thing I've noticed about a few of them is that while they are comedies, they are not sitcoms, as-in the traditional 3-camera situation-comedy, like MB was. This sort of sitcom has been on the decline for far too long, I hate to say.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

80s TV was great, but part of that is because we were all young when those shows were on TV. Art is more meaningful when you are younger (since your identity is in flux). I'm guessing kids today will think the aughts or the 2010s were the pinnacle of media also.
