loved the show but season 6 had some bad episodes

anyway, i grew up in the 1980s and remember always watching this after school
when it was in syndication and have just recently started re-watching the episodes,
still remember them but it's pretty obviously that after wesley grew up & kevin moved out
to go to college, the show just wasn't as funny as it was in the earlier seasons,
and season 6 was very weak, many of the plot lines were badly written and generic
and i think the thing that made them weak was the fact that often the stories took place
outside of the home because the writers seemed to not know what to do with the characters anymore
so really, there were so many ridiculous season 6 episodes:
- the christmas episode where mr. belv. does a christmas carol plotline
- the episode where george & mr. belv. play truck drivers
- the episode where marsha meets a lookalike in prison, although its just a dream

Many people have criticized season 6 for being when the show started getting ridiculous and off-the-wall childish and stale.

When I think about it, I'd like to think of Mr. Belvedere as one of those shows that began and ended at the right time. Brice Beckham (Wesley) was who often stole the show. It began when he was 8, and ended when he was 14, a little too old to still be playing tricks on the big guy.

I love the episode where George and Belvedere become truckers.

I wonder if the writers realized this was the final season as they wrote those episodes? Being placed on Saturday night back then was for the most part a death sentence, especially on ABC.

I think that very often Wesley did steal the show. However, I think ALL THE CHARACTERS CONTRIBUTED TO THE SHOW. I mean when you're talking about a show, movie, or any kind of entertainment, EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT, not just one person.

I never got to see many of the season 6 episodes because I had gone off to college and stopped watching it. Plus several of them were unaired by ABC and did not get viewed by audiences until the program entered syndication. I do remember ABC showing the two-part finale where Mr. Belvedere gets married and moved away. That was aired in the summer after the show had been cancelled.

So I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the sixth season episodes when Antenna TV gets around to broadcasting them.

I wish the whole show was on DVD.
