OK, so anybody who's seen Gymkata knows how laughably bad a movie it is. I remember Gymkata playing all the time on late night television when I was younger, but sadly times have changed and late night television has been overrun with adult dramas and romantic comedies. So my question to all you bad movie fans is what are some more of your favorite laugh-'til-it-hurts, piece of crap movies?
Ahhh, so many fond memories of watching Gymkata on late-night USA channel in various states of inebriation during my formative years... As for other favourites -
Hexed Deathwish III Rocky II through V Rambo II Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man Stone Cold Top Gun (kind of a given, I suppose!) Cool As Ice You Got Served Red Sonja Street Trash Junk (japanese film) Gleaming The Cube, a.k.a. A Brother's Justice Raw Force Demons/Demons 2 Wizard American Yakuza 2, a.k.a. Back To Back Ninja III: The Domination Terror Toons (though I don't know if I could watch it a second time) Violent *beep* pt. III - Infantry Of Doom, a.k.a. Zombie Doom Oasis Of The Zombies The Wizard Of Speed And Time Robot Jox Gladiator (with Cuba Gooding Jr., NOT russel crowe) The Gate Toy Soldiers Monster Squad The Garbage Pail Kids Movie Road House Blind Fury Cyborg Deep Star Six Blown Away (the Corey Haim/Feldman one, NOT Tommy Lee Jones) Critters Klash Moonchild (japanese) Care Bears II Cats & Dogs The Stoned Age
That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now... but they're all definitely worth watching (at least, as far as I'm concerned).
"Universal Soldier" - My brother and I knew what we were in for when we rented it and we were still disappointed.
We got so bored with taking it seriously that we started making jokes during the movie. I kept saying that the movie was "horse shyt" and he kept calling it "dog shyt" We were bored enough to even start a debate about who'se label was more fitting.
He won the debate by concluding if the horse ATE the dog shyt and THEN took a shyt the end result would be this movie.
We had such a good laugh that it was worth the rent.
Oh man! Classic movies all =) Let me suggest another few classics from that era:
Deathstalker II Fortress Rad Whitewater Summer
I'll also second your vote for these:
Rambo II (of course) Gleaming The Cube Ninja III: The Domination Toy Soldiers Road House Blind Fury (glad you put this one, a classic in my book) Deep Star Six Blown Away (the Corey Haim/Feldman one)
What was that other dodgy movie (if I remember correctly the trailer was actually on Robot Jox), where those different 'species' fought in space in that futuristic fighting tournament? Yeah bwoi!

Now i`m pissed at you cause i can`t get those images out of my head but i can`t remember the name of that trash film. Some kind of futur Bloodsport with a human winning over aliens etc...with cheesy FX.How could they make so many useless piece of cinema.
I know this is a slightly late response to the film you can't recall, i think you're thinking about the Empire film 'Arena', and it is undoubtably so bad its good. I had to reply, although I fear you may have gone insane in the last 5 years if you still didn't know the title:)
I can't seem to find Gymkata to enjoy its badness. I'd confirm the above mentioned RAD and would add Flash Gordon. Childhood favorites and security blankets.
Night Patrol (Pat Morita, and the girl from Exorcist) Spacehunter ...Forbidden Zone (Molly Ringwald) SolarBabies (Jami Gertz, Jason Patric) Howard The Duck North Shore (Nia Peeples, Mario's sister) Fortress (The one about the school kids in Australia) BMX Bandits (Nicole Kidman) My Bodyguard (one of the Baldwins) The Octagon (Chuck Norris)
Ice Pirates and Beast Master are freakin' awweeessooommmee... and so is Split Second (gotta love Rutger Hauer!). Also worth picking up, in a variety of genres:
North Shore No Holds Barred The Convent Prayer of the Rollerboys (has this been mentioned yet?) Bikini Carwash If Looks Could Kill Street Trash Every episode of "21 Jump Street", EVER Demons Demons 2 Night of the Demons Night of the Demons 2 (anyone sensing a theme here?) Sidekicks (yes, the Jonathon Brandis/Chuck Norris vehicle) The Last Dragon Breakin' Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo Bloodsport Necronomicon (Deep Ones wear sombreros!!) Django Mr. Vampire (though it's worth noting that this movie is legitimately awesome) Dolemite Trippin' The Band of The Hand Only the Strong House Party Fist of the North Star (ONLY the *animated* movie!) Freeway 2: Confessions of a Trickbaby Deathrace 2000 Young Guns Cool World
can i step up and bat for "some" of these films?????
ok first off
Street trash! this film is mega. can anyone really explain what is going on here??? believe!!! this film is beyond ANYTHING you could imagine!! Watch it now!!! in fact just buy it!! get on ebay and buy it!
demons and demons 2. we talking the dario argento films??? if we are see above!
i cant imagine why but i have a friend who thinks THE LAST DRAGON is the greatest film ever!! i cant think why its a horrible nightmare of a film, but its the same friend of mine who has actually spoken to boogaloo shrimp, which brings it on to the whole "breakin" thing. avoid them. its not like watchin mr wiggles on the rollin video.
fist of the north star... ok the live action with gary daniels is a insult. the 12 part tv series where ken is fighting a "pack of cards" is worth watching.... the first full length feature film is very good and worth whatching as is the new 3 part full length feature films.
ok
house party 2 and 3 young guns 2 dead end drive thru suicide class of nukem high class of 84 demons 3 best defense perfect gentleman silent rage no retreat no surrender karate kid 2 body slam beast master the new barbarians jungle burger the big bang xtro life force
Oh yes, Airnorne classic for its time. If we are talking about late night TV, does anyone remember DoubleCross with Patrick Bergin, Kelly Preston, and Jennifer Tilly??
YOR: THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE MEGAFORCE FINAL JUSTICE YOUNG WARRIORS NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET ZONE TROOPERS METALSTORM: THE DESTRUCTION OF JARED SYN DOUBLE TROUBLE THINK BIG TWINSITTERS LIBERTY & BASH TROLL 2
Ooh, "Over the Top" is SWEET... anyone ever seen "P.K. and the Kid" which also revolves around armwrestling championships?
I haven't seen "Wizards of the Lost Kingdom" (at least, not that I can remember), but it reminded me of the great steaming pile of cinema known as "The Wizard of Speed and Time", a film I still make titular references to, even now.
I'm very upset that the American Ninja movies have not yet been mentioned. Shame on all of you.
Also,
XTRO II Tiger Claws Dark Side of the Moon Moontrap The Hero and the Terror Street Justice Warriors of the Wasteland Steel Dawn Leviathan Blood Beach Chopping Mall
Oasis of the Zombies was not "good" It was so bad, that it has the distinction of being the first of only a few movies I've ever rented and not watched all the way through.
Now for my favorite 'bad' movies.
Zombie vs Ninja Lobsterman from mars Hexed Robo C.H.I.C (satan's onions anyone!!) No retreat, No surrender (just the first one)
I can't believe people would put Flash Gordon on here. That movie was, in every way, awesome.
Another one to avoid is Naked Space, with Leslie Nielson. It only has one mildly amusing scene which involves an alien singing "I want to eat your face" and the rest of the film is an utter waste of time.
For those who are in their 20s and grew up in the 80s in Los Angeles, you guys will be able to relate.
Channel 5- KTLA rotation...(in no particular order)
1. Gymkata 2. Red Sonja 3. Ninja III: The Domination 4. The Last Dragon 5. Howard the Duck 6. Critters 2 7. Death Wish III(this one always scared me...like where the *beep* did that take place? What city was that? It was a freaking war zone!) 8. Any movie produced by Menahem Golan and Yoran Globus! HAHA! (Chuck Norris, I'm pointing at you)
Channel 13- KCOP
8. Leviathon/Deep Star Six(sometimes aired on Channel 11, KTTV) 9. Terror Vision
There are others but I can't remember them right now. Someone help me out.
Wow this is the greatest thread ever, I'd like to print it out then hit half.com and pick some of these up. I totally forgot about many of these, like Yor the Hunter From the Future, and Metalstorm. Good times.
In the middle of viewing "Gymkata" now and there are many "WTF Were They Thinking?" moments.
The bad/good films in this thread are mostly action/adventure misfires that are pretty funny.
Let's not forget Ed Wood films. Or "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"
These are my favorite "So Bad It's Good" films. The type that you catch by yourself when you're up too late or stoned and you have to get a friend to watch it with you to make sure you really did see what you saw.
Valley of the Dolls Cobra Woman Johnny Guitar The Oscar Mommie Dearest Girls Town
Also, if you like this type of film, check out "It Came From Hollywood" which features Dan Ayckroyd, John Candy and others introducing clips from badly funny films.
"Victor, what are we going to do to stop this fiendish tit?"
