What time of year?

When is this supposed to happen? Most of the movie keeps reminding us how scorching Corpus Christi is, so it's presumably summer, maybe September at the latest, unless they were having an intense autumn heat wave. Binx doesn't worry about school, either, so probably August before the school year started, although he might be a high school dropout. But Lloyd doesn't worry about college, either, and his father wouldn't be happy about him falling behind in his studies. Then at the end, they move to snowy Vermont and Binx still has his arm in a sling. Unless he heals really slowly or was severely injured like with shattered ribs, that shouldn't be more than a month. But Vermont's ski resorts don't open until sometime around the New Year, about four months later.

I always assumed it was summer time.

Corpus Christi's summers (along with much of the rest of south Texas) sound like they would be extremely hot. I would say it was late July or early August when the majority of the movie took place. At the end, it could have been January, but I would have thought Binx's shoulder would have healed by then. I would say they might have gone to Vermont in December after Christmas. But Binx's shoulder would still have been healed, unless maybe he had to have multiple surgeries. I was a teenager myself (18 years old) the first time I saw this movie. It's still one of my favorites.

Yes I'm from Galveston island Texas and it is miserable in the summer.
