DVD PLEASE

Man, I know so many people who grew up in the 80s and we all love this film...and this has a cult following...so WHY oh WHY is this not on DVD? I have hope though...Night of the Comet and Twilight Zone: The Movie were just released on DVD and those has cult followings too

It's driving me crazy too and I grew up in the 90s. The why of it involves some kind of music royalty or something...it doesn't make sense to me...Woodstock is full of music by different rock stars, and it's out on DVD, so why not this?

I grew up in the 80s and this film to this day still has class. "The Legend of Billie Jean" needs to be in DVD. A film that is very underrated like a lot of great 80s films. I pray this film will be on DVD soon, we need to petition this film's DVD release.

If I'd realized it wasn't on dvd, I would've recorded it off TCM just now. ARGH.

If you're watching 'Fullscreen' DVDs, you aren't getting the whole picture.

Well URY, all hope might not be lost...in so far as I know, I was the only person to suggest TCM show it, and it was on...granted they changed their schedule at almost last minute, but they did it...maybe if a bunch of us go to the TCM site and suggest they show The Legend of Billie Jean again, in a couple months they'll show it again.

reply

If your suggestion helped at all to get it on TCM, then thanks. I was too busy last night griping about Jubilee being replaced (I love catching Criterion Collection titles on TCM without paying $40 to buy the dvd or $4 to rent them) to realize that TLOBJ is not on dvd and is not something I can buy or rent later when I want to see it. Sice old VHS are the only legit copies out there and most cable channels don't go for original aspect ratio like TCM does, it was a rare chance to see it letterboxed as my previous viewings on VHS and cable were all pan & scan, which I loathe as the telecine operator who transfers the film is essentially re-directing the film/re-framing all the shots.

TCM generally has its schedule planned 2 months in advanced, and it's not going to be shown again in January, it might in February, I don't know yet...but if we start suggesting it again now, in 3-4 months it might be on again. It's a bit of a wait but a lot better than having to wait another 15 years.

My iPod just finished playing 'Invincible' by Pat Benatar and I said to my husband, "I WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE!" lol I can't wait for them to put it on DVD - I'm always trying to check and see if it's available in that format yet *sigh*

reply

My husband just did a search for this. It has been put on dvd. Amazon is out, but it is available.
